Men’s Pairs Rnd 2

Back to news

Tonight brought the continuation of the Men’s Pairs with 26 ties being played, as there had been 6 walkovers beforehand. There were good results tonight, in particular New Delaval Knights pairing of Ricky Humes and Graeme Robinson won away at St. Georges defeating Neil Aitchison and Gary Myerscough 18 – 10. There was better news for Neil & Gary’s St. Georges colleagues with 2019 runners up Darren Parkes & Phil Harvey winning at Walker St. Peters against Jim Askwith. Also Alan Stewart & Karl Jameson (ST) recorded a good away at Benfield, winning 26 – 9 and the final St. Georges pair Keith Lowery & Paul Lawson won at Seaton Sluice 16 – 9.

Michael Cymber & Simon Richardson

Holders Michael Cymber & Simon Richardson (G) won at Benfield, defeating Jonty King 18 – 17.  There was also a good evening at Cramlington where it saw good home wins for Paul Timney against Portland’s Gren Richardson, Kevin Miles (CN) defeated Hexham House’s Clive Knott 19 – 14, and Keith Miller beat Benfield’s Jim Taylor.

Other notable results saw Newbiggin’s Lee Birch defeat Gosforth’s Dickie Train 20 – 12 , but there was more positive news for the West Avenue club, as it saw home victories for the pairs of Chris Yeomans, Jimmy Curtis, Brian Hougton and Mick McGreevy, along with good away wins for Steve Harvey at Collingwood and Steve Ross at New Delaval.

A reminder and this is a MUST – ALL NAMES must be shown on the scorecards, this is very important as all names are checked to see they are registered at the respective clubs, along with checking if they have played in other pairs, or whether substitutes are being utilised. This has not happened on many cards tonight – hence my replies back to many asking for such details. And finally results to be reported by 10 pm – thank you.
