Men - Balcomb

TEAM MANAGER: TBA

The Balcomb Trophy (10 players). The format has changed and is now 10 players – see below. We are playing in the North group, which consists of ourselves, Cumbria, Durham, Lancashire, Yorkshire.

The regional finals will take place over one weekend – 17th & 18th May 2025, and staged at Redcar Borough BC.

Format of Play
Players will participate in the following disciplines:
• Singles (four bowls each player, first to 21)
• Pairs (three bowls per player, 18 ends)
• Triples (two bowls per player, 18 ends)
• Fours (two bowls per player, 15 ends)
The county side may be changed ahead of the start of each individual match/round.
Each match will be limited to a time limit of two hours 30 minutes (including trial ends). All ends must be played in all disciplines unless a discipline is ‘timed-out’.
In the event of a ‘dead end’ the jack will be re-spotted on the T (or as near as possible to the T in line with the current Laws of the Sport).

Scoring – Regional Finals
• Per discipline – 3 pts for a win; 1 pt for a draw
• Per match – 12 pts for a win; 6 pts for a draw

The county that tops the group at the conclusion of the group stages on will qualify for the Aviva National Bowls Finals.
This will be determined by (in order):
• Overall points
• Overall shots difference
• Overall shots scored
If there is a ‘tie’ between two counties once these factors are taken into account, the result (shots aggregate) in the match between the two counties concerned will determine the group winner. Should shots be level at conclusion of the match, the winning team will be determined by the winner of the Singles fixture between
those two counties. Should this still not produce a winner, each county will select one player to play a one-end tie-break to determine the winner.
