Men’s County Team Starts

Back to news

The Men’s county team starts this Saturday with the Alsop Cup campaign getting underway, and we face Lancashire at Backworth Welfare starting at 2pm.

There are number of new faces making their Alsop Cup debuts and I’m sure we wish them all the best, along with the rest of the team of course – the debutants are Cramlington’s Paul Timney, Keith Miller and Brian Turner, Walker St. Peters Mark Stewart, Newbiggin’s Josh Norris and Benfield’s Alan Pomfrey.

The team has been updated, as unfortunately some players that were originally selected are now unavailable, due to work, illness etc.

A reminder to all players – can you turn up dressed – what I mean here is Whites, and county shirts and jackets, and then simply change in to your bowls shoes when you arrive. This will clearly help in changing areas where of course we need to reduce contact etc etc with these current times.

Players to arrive by 1:20 pm and report to Team Manager Keith Rowe.

We are playing Lancashire as advised and of course we are looking for a strong start in our campaign to regain the Alsop Cup, as following this we have another home fixture against Durham at St. Georges, but then face two away games at Yorkshire and then our last game will be against Cumbria.
