World Indoor Bowls Championships

Back to news

Some you are probably aware of this already but the annual World Indoor Bowls Championships are curently taking place at the Potters Leisure Resort, Great Yarmouth.

The open pairs championships started yesterday and continues today. This will then be followed by the Open Singles, Mixed Pairs and Ladies Match play events.

Due to the current restrictions there are no overseas players – only those from within the UK (so perhaps not quite World!).

At this time matches are screened on the World Bowls Tour Youtube and Facebook page with the final week of matches being covered on the BBC TV (from 18th Jan) and also through the BBC red button feature and BBC website.

To note Nick Brett (World Number one) will not be playing due to a broken wrist – although his is doing the commentary along with Lancashire’s Jason Parkinson.

I realise the event is not quite what we are used to watching, with no crowds etc – but to see some live bowls action is certainly better than nothing, especially at this current and difficult time. Enjoy!
