*Very Sad News… (updated)*

Back to news

It is with regret and sadness that I have to advise you that yesterday (16th May) we sadly lost one of our members – Ronnie Keir (St. Georges).

Ronnie represented Northumberland County many times across all teams, starting in the Armstrong Cup then going through to Alsop in 1993. Ronnie then played many times for the Muras Cup and Middleton Teams, and across all of these Ronnie played over 100 times for the county – a great achievement.

Ronnie had qualified for the National Finals where he had won the county triples title multiple times. In 1998 Ronnie won with Steve Cleverley and Karl Jameson and again in 2008 with Karl again and Richard Train and finally in 2009 alongside Trevor Logan and Darren Burt. Ronnie was also a key and integral part of St. Georges’s many successes in the Clegg, Challenge and Edwardson Cups.

Our thoughts and condolences are very much with Ronnie’s family, and his bowling family – which is not just St. Georges but across our county as many knew Ronnie.

Ronnie’s funeral will be on Thursday 3rd June at 11:15am at Tynemouth Crematorium, following this it is then back to Bates Cricket Club in Holywell. All are welcome but please ensure you follow the latest Covid guidelines.
