Back to news

Firstly I would you like to apologise for this lateness in posting this very sad news. Hopefully you realise why this was not posted due to the site being hacked and cleaned – and advised not to put further updates / news on.

Tom Ord (Portland BC Ltd)

Tom sadly passed away peacefully on 20th December. Tom was county president back in 1992, which he carried out the role of Presidential duties superbly well, the honour in which the role should be carried and performed. Tom was a great servant to Portland BC over decades, and also to the County on and off the green. Tom was bestowed a great award in County Life Member in 1994.

Tom represented the County over many years in a playing capacity – mainly in the Middleton Cup and was part of the successful sides when we won the cup in 1980’s. Tom played 102 Middleton Cup Games, and 74 Muras Cup Games. Tom was awarded his County Badge, back in 1969.

Tom was also successful in county competitions over nearly 20 years, and represented Northumberland at the National Finals at Mortlake and Worthing. List of Tom’s county honours are below: –

County Triples Winner 1979

County Triples Winner 1982

County Triples Winner 1991

County Triples Winner 1995

County Fours Winner 1998

I am sure Tom will be sorely missed and our condolences go to his family, and many friends across the bowling community. RIP Tom.
