After a dreadful few days, the sun finally returned, and no better time than the quarter finals of our Ladies 4 bowl singles.
Only 3 games in action today as R Brown (AK) received a walkover due to covid restrictions in place on Forest Hall. A McPake chose to withdraw as opposed to playing after the isolation period was over.
In the other ties, S Storey (G) had an impressive 21 – 3 win over Amble’s M McNally.
K Proctor however, had an unfortunate turn of events away to Hexham. After defeating the defending Champ in the previous round (Symons), Proctor lost out to S Carter 21 – 18. Carter will go on to play Storey in the Semi-Final.
Lastly, there were 2 Benfield teammates battling out for the last place in the Semi-Final to play R Brown. R Cartwright had a startling lead of 12 – 2, but soon become stuck on 13, whilst P Browne began the comeback and scored on 9 consecutive ends to lead 13 – 15. Finally, Cartwright managed to get off 13 by trailing the jack for 3 (16 – 15). After 2 consecutive ends of ‘end played no score’ due to a dead measure and 2 opposing touchers, Cartwright ultimately won 21 – 16 against 2019’s runner-up.
The 2 bowl and 4 bowl Semi-Finals will be held at Morpeth bowling club from 11 am.
