This year Women’s President Margaret Maddison, of Whitley & Monkseaton Bowls Club, has elected Maggie’s Newcastle as her chosen charity which Bowls Northumberland Women’s Section will be raising funds for throughout the year.
Typically, our funds are raised during a fun charity day where participants dress up, eat cake, win raffle prizes, play bowls, and of course, have lots of fun!
This season, President’s Day will occur on Sunday 7th July at Whitley & Monkseaton Bowls Club where those in attendance are asked to wear orange – you can be as creative as you like!

In addition to our charity day, Clubs have also been asked to consider hosting a series of Coffee Mornings to already start raising funds, Gosforth have hosted their first event and raised an impressive £50. In addition to BNWS, Whitley & Monkseaton have also chosen to support Maggie’s for 2024 with a series of events having already taken place. This includes a Fish & Chip night with Beetle Drive and an Afternoon Tea with Bingo – both events were very well supported! So much so, that another Beetle Drive and a possible wine tasting event are already being planned before the outdoor season gets into full swing!
