BE Nationals Day 12

Back to news

Day 12, Monday 21st sees the continuation of the Women’s 4 Bowl Singles and our representative and champion Wooler BC’s Victoria Symons starts her campaign off at 10am. As per previous Victoria was due to play yesterday but was given a walkover by her opponent from Suffolk B. Today Victoria will take on Val Osmond from Henleaze BC, Gloucestershire B.

Also today sees the start of the Womens and Men’s senior fours – but our representatives from Collingwood Steve Welsh, Matthew Stronge, Michael Watson and awesome Peter Dawson don’t start until tomorrow am where they will face a rink from Berkshire and hopefully they will not be blown off course – as within the Berkshire rink they take on our old foe Mr Blizzard! The same applies with the ladies, as in starting their campaign, where our rink of Gosforth’s Fiona Woods, Norma Povey, Erica Timoney & Sheila Storey will take on Steff Pinson, Tania Cordial, Julie Leake and Bridget Hodder from Poole Park BC, Dorset and play starts tomorrow am.

Unfortunately for Victoria it was not her day and she lost this morning on C green to Val Osmond. Val is actually 88 years young and proves age is no barrier and our sport is for all ages. Val won her first round yesterday 21 – 6 but has just lost 21 – 15 to Elaine Score (Essex) in round 3.
