Men’s Pairs

Back to news

Thursday brought the next round of the Men’s Pairs, with the quarter finals being played.

Spotlight, perhaps was at St. Georges Dragons BC, as there were two games being staged including the current holders.

On the current holders Gosforth’s Josh Minto & Chris Yeomans recorded a good away win, defeating Michael Cymber, and the in form Phil Harvey 20 shots to 8. Across the green it was better news for Phil’s father Steve, along with playing partner Alan Stewart edged out New Delaval Knights Tom Symons & Ant Barke 17 – 12.

The other two games saw two good comebacks, first up was Collingwood’s Martin Hayden & Michael Waton, who took on another St. Georges pair in Alan Gemmill & Keith Ellison. And the St. Georges Dragons duo led 14 – 9 after 13 ends, but for their disappointment it was the last time they would score, as Hayden & Watson, scored 1, 1, 1, then 2 2s on the 17th & 18th ends to win a tight and intense game 16 – 14.

The final pair to make it to the semi finals are Ashington’s Christian Lowes & George Richardson who travelled to Morpeth to play Rob Lee & Bob Leeson. The Morpeth duo were also 14 – 9 up at 13 ends, but dropped a 1, 5, and another 5 2 ends later, and with Lowes & Richardson scoring a single on the last end they wrapped up the victory 21 – 16.
