2 Bowl Round 2

Back to news

The Men’s 2 Bowl Singles continued on yet another wet evening for some, but saw back to back holder Gosforth’s Simon Richardson stay on course for a possible treble! Richardson overcome club mate Josh Minto in a tight tussle, where Simon recovered from an 8 – 6 deficit to score on the last 7 ends to take the win 14 – 8. Richardson will now face another Gosforth player James McKenna in the next round, who got the better of Seaton Sluice’s Iain Dickinson 14 – 10.

In other results it was a good evening for Benfield, with all but one of their representatives progressing to the next round. In particular Alan Pomfrey scored another great away victory, this time at Cramlington against Keith Miller 16 – 4.  Former champion Jonny Morgan scored a decisive 15 – 5 away win over Gosforth’s Peter Duffy, Jonny will now have a home tie next week against Cramlington’s Tony Fantozzi, as Tony scored an impressive away victory of his own, defeating Michael Barrass 16 – 7 at St. Georges.

Another former runner up Portland’s Gren Richardson had a great home win over Benfield’s Jonty King 16 – 9, but it was a mixed night for the Jesmond club where Gren’s club mate Colin Boyle lost 13 – 12 away at Collingwood against Fabian Scott.

Well done to the winners tonight, and thank you for reporting your results quickly – it is much appreciated.

The next round is scheduled for Monday 24th May.
