2 Bowl Down to 8

Back to news

The latest round of the Men’s Two Bowl Singles was played this evening (in sunshine!), with the last 16 being played tonight.

In the bottom half of the draw there was a superb away win for New Delaval Knight’s Graeme Robinson over Benfield’s Alan Pomfrey 18 – 5, but there was better news for his Benfield club colleague Stan Lant who overcome St. Georges Dan Bennett in a low scoring tie 12 – 7. Robinson will now face Gosforth’s Mark Dickinson, who defeated past winner and club colleague Michael Bennett 17 – 9 on Saturday evening. The last tie in the bottom half saw St. Georges’ Gary Myerscough get the better of Astley Park’s Graham Sivell 14 – 9. Myerscough will now face Lant at Benfield next Monday.

In the top half of the draw holder Gosforth’s Simon Richardson recorded a good victory over his club mate James McKenna 17 – 8, next week Richardson will face another Richardson, as Gren Richardson (Portland) had a good home win over Benfield’s Ian Webb 17 – 8. The last two ties in this half of the draw, saw Gosforth’s Dan Targar overcome Collingwood’s Fabian Scott in a close contest 15 – 12. Dan will now face an away game next week, where he will take on Cramlington’s Tony Fantozzi who scored another great away win, this time defeating past champion Benfield’s Jonny Morgan. Fantozzi scored two 2’s on the last two ends to win 18 – 16.

The next scheduled round will take place next Monday – 31st May.
