Women’s 2 Bowl Ch/Ch

BNWS 2 Bowl Champion of Champions Competition took place this morning (Sat 1st June) at North Shields West End BC.

We were down to only 6 entries today as we had 6 withdrawals for various reasons. However this did not affect the quality of play in the games.

2 rinks to play round 1 with the other 2 players getting a bye into the semi final.


S.Phillips (HX) 16 v A. Pearson (PE) 10

Suzanne got off to a very strong start leading 6-0 after 5 ends. Ann then started her comeback taking the next 6 ends to lead 8-6 after 11 ends. Suzanne took the next 3 ends to retake the lead 10-8. Ann tried hard to keep in the game but Suzanne took the last 3 ends to finish on 16-10 to take her into the semi final.

 

B.Ware (WM) 16 v V.Symons (WR) 13

Bev took an early lead of 4-0 in the first 2 ends. By end 8 this lead had increased to 8-4. Victoria then took the next 3 ends to lead 9-8, and Bev followed with a 1 on end 12 to level the game at 9-9. Victoria then took the lead again after 14 ends to 11-9. Bev then won 5 out of the last 6 ends to win 16-13 to take her into the semi final.


Semi Final

Kayleigh Proctor (BD) 17 v Karen Milner (M) 11

Karen took the lead of 6-2 after 6 ends. She then extended this lead to 9-4 after 10 ends. Kayleigh then took the next 3 ends to bring the deficit to 8-9 after end 13. Karen answered with a 2 on the following end but then Kayleigh secured her win by taking the last 5 ends with 4×2, 1, to take her place in the final winning 17-11.

 

Semi Final

Bev Ware (WM) 16 v Suzanne Phillips (HX) 15

This was a closely fought game. Bev started with a 2 on this first end. Suzanne took 3×1 on the following 3 ends and then Bev levelled the game to 3-3 after 5 ends. The game swung both ways and they were level again at 7-7 after 10 ends. Bev scored on the next 2 ends to take the lead again to 10- 7 on end 12. Bev kept the lead and by end 18 the score was 15-11. Suzanne then scored 2×2 on the next 2 ends to level the score up to 15-15 going into the last end. Bev kept her nerve and scored 1 to take her place in the final winning 16-15.

To be played on the last weekend in July at Bowls Northumberland joint finals to be held at Portland BC.
