As per my previous post, 2 of the County Finals were postponed last weekend and took place during this week.
On Tuesday 3rd August saw current holders S Storey (G) take on K Proctor (BD) for yet another year – this time at St George’s.
Storey got off to a great start, preventing her team from dropping 2 or 3 shots in the first couple of ends and were leading 7 – 0 after only a few ends played. Her good form continued and ultimately Proctor conceded with 2 ends to go meaning Sheila Storey, Erica Timoney & Mattea Ross kept the triples title for a 3rd consecutive year! Huge congratulations! This triple win comes at a good time, as Gosforth Men’s, C Yeomans secured his 3rd consecutive win in the triples also.
Our final game, was the Ladies Pairs which took place earlier today at Portland. The weather wasn’t much better than finals day itself – but the players persevered. In the end it was Benfield’s Dorothy Taylor and Pat Browne who took the last spot at the BE national finals after they defeated Gosforth’s Norma Povey & Fiona Woods 18 -10.
I would also like to call out Victoria Symons – who had an impressive 21-7 win against Vanessa Lord (Durham) in the area final of the Women’s Champion of Champions played at Benfield on Monday 2nd August. She’ll go on to play Alison Hullock (cumbria) for a spot in the last 16 and Leamington Spa.
Lastly, I would like to give a big congratulations to all of our qualifies (men and women!)… let’s try bring home some silverware.

Additionally we have V Symons final Ch of Ch qualifying game, plus M Bennett (G) in the area final of the National Mixed Fours teaming up with S Harvey, M Ross & S Storey (plus M Mohan sub) . They’ll play J Pattinson (Durham) for a place at Leamington, I believe this game is scheduled for Friday 13th @ Houghton Dairy Lane (6:30pm) – Good luck all!
