Stella Vs Yorkshire

Stella Logan League report Northumberland v Yorkshire at Bishop Monkton.

Well they really have gone and done it. Northumberland through pure TEAM effort have at last beaten Yorkshire on their home turf.

3 rinks up, 1 drawn and one losing by only 4 shots was in my mind the best of bowling I have seen in a long while. One rink struggling massively from the start 3 -16 down at 12 ends scored 13 shots on 4 of the last 6 ends only going down 16 – 20 at the finish. This pull back helped save the day. G. Chapman’s rink having won all 3 of this seasons matches held on to a very hard fought game as did Pat. Thompson’s rink who have also 3 wins under their belt. Top scoring rink skipped by Amy Dunton showed Yorkshire lasses a clean pair of heels (old fashioned saying) by winning all of the 9 last ends . Mary Urwin’s rink secured a splendid draw which was helped by 5 shots scored on the 16th end 13-14, Yorkshire scoring 1 on the penultimate end but Northumberland picking up a 2 on the last end giving us a 15-15 draw.

Historically in these sort of league games the last 4/5 ends are so crucial as was proven today, Northumberland ladies you have cracked it. All you have to do now is remember how you did it the next time !!!! Well done
