Today saw our Northumberland Stella Logan League campaign get underway. What a “stellar” performance it was too. We were away to Durham playing at Consett Park and again bathed in sunshine, must be global warming !!!
Unable to attend, this correspondent was kept up to date with a virtual blow by blow account on how our team was performing. Well I felt I was there. After five ends just 2 shots down but Northumberland ladies digging their heels in, sorry Greenkeeper, determined to pull back to just 1 shot adrift at 10 ends. 1 team now finding the pace and scoring seven shots in the next 4 ends. All of the rinks keeping an eye on each other reducing any shot deficit as best they could. I felt with the information I was being fed I was there standing on the edge of each rink shouting encouragement. Need I worry well no we had three rinks out of the five (Stella format) winning and the other two sensibly pegging Durham back over the final 3 ends. Durham only scoring 9 shots after 15 ends to the 18th and Northumberland scoring 14 shots from the 15th to concluding end. What a finish. Overall score Northumberland 73 v Durham 73
5.5 points to us and 4.5 points to Durham.
Now that is what I call a TEAM effort!
