Report on Stella Logan League – Apologies for the delay!

Northumberland v Cumbria at Wetherall

Lawn Bowls is really a summer sport, yesterday (31st May) proved that at long last. The sun shone all day and help create a wonderful atmosphere at Wetheral where Cumbria hosted the second match of the Stella Logan league.

Unfortunately Cumbria can only field 4 rinks which sadly reduces our team selections, however yesterday’s team did not disappoint. We started off quite strongly with after 5 ends leading by 5 shots but oh what a difference another five ends make down by 10 shots however the team dug deep and at 15 ends we had one rink up and two level but the last 3 ends saw us drop 19 shots. The Stella Logan squad are starting to gel nicely and with holidays etc. it is giving the selectors an opportunity to view all of the players over a period of time. We have generally shown that with a little more time and adopting a winning strategy Northumberland have what it takes to win this league. Rome wasn’t built in a day!!!
