Stella do the double over Durham

Back to news

“What a difference a day makes, 24 hours” 🎶🎶 yes early in the week we were basking in sunshine but on Friday our Stella Logan team got a tad wet.

Playing at Ponteland against Durham saw the game start in relatively fine weather conditions albeit very windy. Four of our rinks jogging along nicely and Ann Stevenson’s foursome at five ends 11 shots to nil up against Maureen Charles.

Then the unthinkable happened, rain bleaching across the green made bowling very tricky and the BBC weather pundits said this was to carry on until 5pm.

Decision time, the two Secretaries agreed to reduce the number of ends to 10. By the time the fifth end had been completed Northumberland were 28 to 18 up. The rain eased a little but was always threatening just like our team. Had we played a full match who knows what the result would have been but by the tenth end Northumberland had hung on to any slight lead they had winning overall by 2 shots – 45 v 43. Well done ladies a 100% record against Durham in the Stella Logan league.

And yes game over the sun came out at teatime!!
