The Women’s semi finals got off to a good start in the sunshine with the triples competition.
K. Proctor (BD) 19 v S.London (C) 17
This was a very good close game to watch with both teams playing some fantastic shots.
Collingwood were leading 8-5 after 5 ends. Then Benfield took the next two ends with a 3 & 2 to take it to 10-8. Collingwood fought back with a 2 & 1 to lead 11-10 after 9 ends. Benfield scored a 4 on end 10 so they took the lead back to 14-11. Collingwood then scored 1 & 3 on ends 11 & 12 with Benfield scoring 1 to level the scores 15-15 on end 13. Benfield took back the lead to 17-15 after 14 ends, but Collingwood dug deep and levelled the score again to 17-17 after 16 ends. Benfield then scored 2×1 on the last two ends in the rain to finish as winners on 19-17.
Congratulations to Benfield on reaching the final and well done to all the players who gave us a very entertaining game to watch.
V.Symons (WR) 11 v J.Robson (LL) 21
Another exciting game to watch. Wooler took an early lead of 5-1 after 3 ends but then Linton Lions fought back with a 4 & 2 to take the lead to 7-5 after 5 ends. Wooler took the lead again at end 9 leading 9-8. Linton Lions replied with a 3 on end 10 and Wooler took 1 on end 11 to trail 10-11. Linton Lions built on their early game and took the next 5 ends to extend their lead to 20 -10 after 16 ends. Playing in the rain Wooler managed a 1 on end 17 and Linton Lions took 1 on end 18 to finish the game as winners 21-11.
Congratulations to Linton Lions on reaching the final 🎉🎉 and well done to all the players who gave us a very entertaining game to watch.

We decided to start the 2 bowl and 4 bowl singles games this afternoon but then the weather deteriorated and we took the decision to abandon the games after about 4 ends due to the torrential rain and thunder and lightning!!
These games will continue to be played at Whitley and Monkseaton at the following times:

Spectators are very welcome. I think we should be rain free but high winds forecast!
