We had a lovely sunny morning at Percy for our 2 bowl Champion of Champions first round and semi finals today.
Susan MacDonald (HX) was drawn against Mattea Ross (G) in the first round. This was a close game with Susan taking an early lead but Mattea then found her line and was in the lead after 10 ends at 7-6. Susan drew it back to 7-7 after 11 ends but Mattea held on and won 6 of the following 9 ends to win the game 15-11.
The semi finals were Bev Ware (WM) v Kayleigh Proctor (BD) and Mattea Ross v Thelma Napier (FH).
Kayleigh took an early lead of 7-0 after 6 ends. I then managed to score on the next 4 ends bringing the score to 5-7. After 15 ends Kayleigh was still in the lead at 10-8 and she managed to maintain her line and accuracy to keep in front in the last 4 ends to win the game 16-8.
Thelma got off to a cracking start leading 8-0 after 5 ends. Mattea then got back into the game with some great shots, winning 9 out of the next 11 ends to lead 13-10 after 16 ends. Both ladies won 2 ends each of the last 4 in this exciting match, with Mattea going on to win the game 15-12.
Congratulations to Kayleigh and Mattea who will now meet in the 2 Bowl Champion of Champions Final on Saturday 24th June at Ponteland starting at 10am.
