We were treated to some great bowling today in the Women’s Semi Finals Part 1 at Rockcliffe BC.
We started the day in very misty conditions at the coast but the sun eventually broke through by lunchtime!
2 Bowl Singles
- K.Sultman (FH) 18 v N.Scott (ND) 12
Kacee took a good lead of 6-2 after 5 ends. Naomi then won 2×2 to bring the score to 4-6 after 6 ends. Kacee then took a further 2×2 on ends 7&8 to lead 10-4. Naomi pushed hard and cut her deficit to 9-11 after 12 ends. Kacee took 3×2 on the following 3 ends to increase her lead to 17-9 and she won the game after 19 ends 18-12.
Kacee is into the Final at Gosforth and has secured her place at Leamington Spa! Congratulations 🎉
Women’s Fours
- K.Proctor (BD)17 v B.Hamilton (NW)14
This was a very tight game with some great heads. After 5 ends NSWE were leading 5-3. Then Benfield came back hard including taking a 3 & 5 and they took the lead of 13-6 after 10 ends. After 15 ends they had extended their lead to 17-10. NSWE were not going down without a fight and scored on the last 3 ends. But it was not enough and Benfield won 17-14.
Benfield go into the final at Gosforth and have secured their place at Leamington Spa! Congratulations 🎉
- A.Dunton (P) 19 v J.Gledhill (N)12
It was Percy who took a commanding lead of 8-1 after 6 ends. They kept the pressure on Newbiggin and extended their lead to 16-4 after 12 ends. Newbiggin fought hard to try and keep in the game but it was Percy who won overall after 18 ends 19-12.
Percy go into the final at Gosforth and have secured their place at Leamington Spa! Congratulations 🎉
4 Bowl Singles
- R.Robinson (WR)9 v V.Dent (WR) 21
Victoria took an early lead and after 5 ends was leading 7-2. She continued over the next 5 ends to extend her lead to 17-3. Ruby was not going down without a fight and scored a 3&2 on the next 2 ends to cut her deficit to 8-17. Victoria pushed on hard to take the game 21-9 and will take her place in the Final at Gosforth.
- A.Dunton (P) 21 v F.Charlton (M) 16
This was a very exciting game to watch with some great heads! Fiona took a commanding lead in this game and was in front 9-2 after 8 ends. Amy then got into her stride and had cut her deficit to 12-13 after 16 ends. Amy took a 2 on end 17 to take the lead for the first time 14-13. After 20 ends they were tied at 15-15 and again on end 22 they were tied at 16-16. This was a nail biting finish by both ladies but Amy took the following 4 ends to win the game 21-16 and take her place in the final at Gosforth.
Women’s Triples
- V.Shepherd(AK) 22 v AM.Murray(FH) 13
These teams were tied 3-3 after 4 ends then Forest Hall went in front 5-3 on end 5. Alnwick then pushed back taking a 4,3&2 on the following 3 ends to take a lead of 12-5. After 12 ends they had extended their lead to 19-7. Forest Hall scored 4 on the following end to cut their deficit to 11-19 but it was Alnwick who pushed on to win the game 22-13.

Well what an exciting game this turned out to be swinging one way then the other! After 5 ends the score was 5-5. Morpeth scored on the following 2 ends to lead 9-5. Then Benfield scored 2×3 to take a lead of 11-9. After 13 ends they had extended their lead to 19-12. Morpeth were not going down without a fight and took the next 3 ends with 2×3 & 1 to tie again at 19-19. Benfield on end 17 scored 2 to lead 21-19 going into the last end. Morpeth held 2 when Steph played her last bowl with precision and made it 3 to take the game 22-21!
