Some very strong wins tonight in Round 2:
S. Carter (HX) 19 v K. Proctor (BD) 11
Hexham Elvaston has taken out the title holders from Benfield.
They started strongly leading 4-0 but Benfield immediately replied with a 4 to level the game 4-4 after 4 ends. After 6 ends the score was 6-6. By end 8 Hexham Elvaston was back in the lead 11-6. By end 12 they were still in the lead 12-10. Hexham Elvaston continued to push hard and took 4 out of the last 5 ends to win 19-11.
A. Dunton (FH) 28 v L. Fryer (M) 4
Forest Hall were on fire tonight! Taking a 5 on the first and last ends to cruise through to the next round.
B. Ware (WM) 21 v K. Milner (WM) 17
This was a battle of the W&M ladies which turned into a marathon game of great heads and good tactical play.
By the 7th end Bev and Chris were leading 11-5. By end 9 Karen and Marysia had cut their deficit to 9-11. By end 12 the teams were level on 12-12. Karen and Marysia took the lead with a 1 on the next end but Bev and Chris replied with a 4&3 on the next 2 ends to retake the lead 19-13. By end 17 that lead was cut to 19-17 but Bev and Chris managed to keep their 2 shots safe and finished the game 21-17.
D. Tait (FH) 27 v S. MacDonald 13
Forest Hall took an early lead of 14-2 after 7 ends. By end 11 they had kept their lead 16-6. Hexham Elvaston took the following 2 ends to cut their deficit to 10-16. Forest Hall immediately replied with a 5&6 to lead 27-10. Hexham Elvaston took a 3 on the next end and conceded the game on 13-27.
V. Errington (BD) 22 v C. Graham Scott 6
Benfield started strongly leading 9-1 after 5 ends. By end 10 they had extended their lead to 15-3. They pushed on hard to finish with a strong 22-6 after 16 ends.
G. Chapman (NB) 11 v T. Napier (FH) 23
Another Forest Hall team was on fire tonight taking a 13-0 lead after 5 ends. They extended their lead to 16-2 after 7 ends. Newbiggin took the following 3 ends to cut their deficit to 6-16. Forest Hall pushed on hard and were leading 22-6 after 14 ends. Despite taking another 2&3 Newbiggin conceded the game after 17 ends on 11-23.
S. Alden (AM) 10 v A-M. Murray (FH) 17
Amble took an early lead of 8-3 after 8 ends. Forest Hall quickly replied with a 3&4 on the next 2 ends to take the lead 10-8. Forest Hall pushed on hard and were still leading 14-10 on the 15th end. They then won the last 3 ends to finish the game 17-10.
S. London (C) gets a walkover to Round 3.
