Benfield had high hopes going into the semi final today at Amble with 2 representatives.
In the top half, K Proctor (BD) played N Povey (G). The game remained close with Proctor leading 12 – 11 at 14 ends played – unfortunately they then proceeded to drop a 3 and a 1 on the next 2 ends being 4 down with 2 ends to play. On the penultimate end Proctor was 1 down with 3 seconds, but Povey was tucked behind the wall, which Proctor couldn’t move after 2 agnonisingly close attempts.
In the 18th and final end, Proctor was lying 5 shots for the game when Povey came up with her last bowl for shot – however Proctor couldn’t find a way past the wall to kill the end ultimately losing out 12 – 17.
It wasn’t all doom and gloom for Benfield however, in the second half of the draw D Taylor (BD) played M Maddison (WM). In the opening 2 ends they scored 7 shots meaning Maddison was already on the back foot, as the game progressed, Maddison made a good recovery to be only down by 2 shots – after which point Taylor then scored big on next few ends, resulting in Maddison conceding at 15 ends, 20 -9.
The final between Povey (G) and Taylor (BD) will take during finals weekend.
