Summer solstice did nothing for our Northern Counties team in our recent match against Cumbria. Playing on a very tricky green at Hexham Elvaston we started well and certainly had the game on some rinks in our hands but alas once we hit the dreaded 15th end shots were cheaply given away. S.Storey’s rink gave away a four which lost them a lead that they had had for a while and never regained. C.Gardner’s solid rink again had a great win along with a win by Bev. Ware and K.Milner. So 3 points gained but 7 points lost. However Northumberland had 92 shots to Cumbria’s 102 which in real terms is a good result against our neighbours. Maybe our stamina starts to fail us at the final ends so discussions are taking place to look at topping players fluid intake and energy treats up to get them past the winning post. Interesting theory !!!!
