Northern Counties – A game to build on

Match Report: Northern Counties V Durham (Alnwick)

Well the sun did shine on Northumberland Ladies in more than one way yesterday (9th May).
Alnwick BC hosted our first Northern Counties match and it was bathed in glorious sunshine. Their green starting to get back into the good playing condition of old. Well done green keeper and workers.
Northumberland versus Durham usually is a baptism of fire but Bev Ware’s rink certainly was on fire right from the start. After just five ends she was 20 shots up and maintained the momentum finishing 32 – 6. Our other five rinks played a game of cat and mouse with K.Milner’s rink hanging onto the cream and giving us another winning rink. However Durham never give up and true to their game managed to strike at four of our rinks and take 4 points off us. Overall Northumberland won 106 – 92 which with our scoring system gave us 6 points to Durham’s 4.
A good start to this tough League but a game to build on. It is a long season ladies.

Trial ends commence at sunny Alnwick for the first Northern Counties fixture
