Well thankfully we had no rain today for our Norris Trophy semi finals and final at Gosforth WA. Although it was extremely cold for the semi final games but thankfully it warmed up by the time we played the final.
Semi Finals:
S.Southern (WM) 7 v B.Ware (WM) 19
Well if you want to get into the final, it’s a good idea to have 2 teams from the same club in the semis!
B.Ware’s team took a 6-1 lead after 3 ends. Then S.Southern took 2 x 1 to bring them to 3-6 after 5 ends. B.Ware followed with a 3, 4 & 1 to extend their lead to 14-3 after 8 ends. S. Southern replied with a 2 & 2×1 to bring their score to 7-14. But B.Ware extended their lead with 1,3&1 to finish the game 19-7.
C. Brodie (P) 16 v T.Napier (FH) 10
C.Brodie took an early lead with a 2 on the first end but T.Napier answered back with 2×2 & 1 to take the lead 5-2 after 4 ends. Then C.Brodie replied with a 2,3&1 to regain the lead at 8-5. After the 10th end their lead had extended to 11-7. They followed with a 3 on end 11. T.Napier tried hard to fight back and were 10-14 down on end 13. It was C.Brodie’s team who held their nerve scoring 2×1 on the next 2 ends to finish the game 16-10.
Final:
B.Ware (WM) 21 v C.Brodie (P) 6
Percy scored 1 on the first end but then Whitley and Monkseaton took a strong lead with 2×4 and 3×2 on the next 5 ends to lead 14-1. This lead extended further to 17-4 after 10 ends. Percy scored 2×1 on the next 2 ends but Whitley and Monkseaton replied with a 1 & 3 to finish the game 21-6.
