It is to advise more sad news to report on – Heaton Victoria’s Harry Kershaw has sadly passed away.
Harry was a long standing member of Heaton Victoria, and served the county over many years.
Harry won many bowls honours throughout his time, with possibly the highlight winning the EBA (English Bowling Association) National Singles in 1970 at Mortlake, and then playing for England the following year in 1971.
Harry reached the great milestone of 150 games playing for Northumberland in the county first team – 92 in Middleton and 58 in the Muras Cup, along with a further 2 games in the Alsop. Harry also won the Northern Counties Fours in 1977, playing with I Joice, W Sudweeks and A E Bruce.
Harry reached the age of 102.
We send our condolences and best wishes to Harry’s family, and wider bowls family at this sad time.
RIP Harry.
