Middleton Cup Win

Back to news

As per previous posts our Middleton Cup campaign started at Lancashire and resulted in a fantastic win and brilliant performance from the lads.

We led from start to finish – only 6 up at 5 ends, extended to 13 at 10 – and this more or less stayed the same through the course of the game. In particular the rink skipped by Steve Harvey leading ex England international Jason Parkinson 15 – 5 (at 10 ends); this more or less carried the deficit of Darren Parkes, as Darren was 15 – 4 down against Lancashire’s Team Manager Ian Mayne.  On rink 5 – Josh Minto was 12 ahead, with his score 17 – 5.

At 15 ends, we still led by 13 – Gary Myerscough was now only one adrift 15 – 14 (as was 12 – 8 down at 10), Steve Harvey was 20 – 7 up, Josh was 19 – 6 up, Phil was one up, Ant Barke 16 – 14 at 14 ends. But Darren was 22 – 7 behind.

On to 18 ends, Gary was now level 17 all, Darren fought back slightly 23 – 12, Steve was ahead 20 – 10, Phil Harvey was 18 – 17 up, Josh 14 ahead (but had only played 15 ends), Ant was now behind 20 – 16 (but had only played 16 ends).

The final ends played out and despite Lancashire’s best efforts we held firm, and secured a brilliant win.
