Men’s 4’s down to 8

Back to news

The Men’s 4’s continued this evening with the 3rd round being played.

There were some good wins tonight, firstly at St. Georges Dragons, where Phil Harvey continued his excellent season, as Phil is still in all 4 main events (Singles, Pairs, Triples & Fours). Phil played Walker St. Peters John Slasor and only managed to get through with his very last bowl, taking a bowl out to score 3 shots and win the game by 1 (16 – 15). Harvey will now play away at Seghill next week and will take on home favourite Ian Nolan, as tonight Nolan edged out Forth’s Wayne Penton 18 – 16.

Benfield’s Matty Bishop recorded an impressive home win over Gosforth’s Chris Palmer, where Bishop scored on the last 4 ends to recover from 10 – 9 down, to score 1, 3, 1 and a 4 to take the victory 17 – 10. Bishop will have home advantage again next week and will take on New Delaval Knight’s Ant Barke, as Barke won at home tonight, defeating Gosforth’s Peter Duffy.

In the bottom half of the draw, the first two games were away wins – firstly Wooler’s Brian Davidson beat Health & Security’s Stu Williams (names entry Andy Bojke) 20 – 12. Davidson will have home advantage next week and will play Rothbury’s Rob Donkin, where Donkin won at Collingwood tonight defeating Michael London 18 – 9. The last two games saw an impressive win for St. Georges Dragons Neil Aitchison over Walker St. Peters Peter Brewis, and the final game saw Gosforth’s Jimmy Curtis beat St. Georges Dragons’ Gary Myerscough.

The 1/4 finals are scheduled for next Friday. Well done to all concerned tonight.
