Tonight was the ladies 4 wood first round, after the prelims last week.
R Brown (AK) continued her winning streak after narrowly defeating M Ross (G) last week (21 – 18), she took on A Beach (FH) early this morning and won decisively 21 – 6.
She’ll go on to play Beach’s team mate, A McPake (FH) in the next round. McPake won her first game against one of her own, A Scobie (21-12) and recieved a bye in tonight’s round.
This evening the 2 remaining ties were played at Benfield. P Browne (BD), our latest runner up had a strong win against R Robinson (W) 21 – 6, she’ll now go on to play R Cartwright (BD) in the next round who is yet to play in this competition.
The remaining tie was between current holder V Symons (W) and Benfield’s K Proctor. It’s been described as a match worthy of a final! The scores remained tight with both players scoring on alternate ends until Proctor became stuck on 13, whilst Symons continued to pick up shots to within winning reach (18). However, Proctor began to pull back brining the score to 19 – 20, still in favour of Symons.
Unfortunately the title holders luck ran out and Symons dropped 2 shots resulting in a Proctor win 21 – 20.
Proctor will now play away to S Carter (HX) who is yet to play.
