A fun-filled day from start to finish. The good folk of Northumberland gathered at Gosforth ‘Saloon’ to raise money for Ladies President, Norma Povey’s chosen charity: Macmillan Nurses.
There was plenty to do with raffle, fancy dress, guess the no. sweets in a jar, guess the weight of the cake, a spider and the chance to £20 cash and of course, bowl!
On the green it was President Povey v Vice President Maddison – with 2 games played the score was tight with Vice President, Margaret Maddison, only leading by 6 shots. After a break for lunch, spider and a much needed pep talk from the President, her troops rallied hard to win the final game by 13 shots overall meaning Norma came out on top.
Congratulations to our top rinks on both teams and all of our games winners – well done, although, I’m sure we can all agree that Macmillan Nurses were the real winners today.
