As previously mentioned Gosforth & Northumberland’s Chris Yeomans is on international duty for England over the next 3 days. Chris is part of the England team playing in the British Isles Internationals taking place at Ayr Northfield. This year there is a different format, and away from the traditional 6 rinks of 4 players – it is a team of 10 players, playing in different formats – what I mean it is Singles, Pairs, Triples and Fours.
In this series England have two teams – which are England Lions and England Eagles. Chris is part of the Lions team. In addition in this new format Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have two teams and Jersey just the one. There are two sections – in Section 1 – there is England Eagles, Ireland Shamrocks, Jersey, Scotland Saltire, Cymru; and in section 2 there is England Lions, Ireland Emerald, Scotland Thistle, Wales. In each team there are 10 Women and 10 Men, and scoring is split in to Women and Men.
Chris is playing the 4’s – the four are Steve Mitchinson, Mark Read, Chris Yeomans & Wayne Willgress.
In the England Lions team (Men’s side) –
Men’s Singles – Ed Morris
Men’s Pairs – Louis Ridout & Jamie Walker
Men’s Triples – Lewis Baker, Harry Goodwin & Nick Brett
Looking at the England teams this seems to be the stronger of the two teams.
Women’s Side of the England Lions Team
Women’s Singles – Stef Branfield
Women’s Pairs – Rebecca Moorbey & Michelle Coleman
Women’s Triples – Emily Ferguson, Morgan Merryweather, Wendy King
Women’s Fours – Sophie Tolchard, Jamie-Lea Marshall, Lorraine Kuhler & Amy Pharaoh
FYI (in Section 1 – England Eagles Team)
Women’s Singles – Kirsty Richards
Men’s Singles – Perry Martin
Women’s Pairs – Ruby Hill & Annie Dunham
Men’s Pairs – Kevin Harrison & Stuart Irwin
Women’s Triples – Nicole Rogers, Vicky Bayliss & Harriet Stevens
Men’s Triples – Lee Calver, Tom McGuiness & Andy Walters
