Womenโ€™s 4 Bowl Champion of Champions Competition ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ†

The first two rounds of this competition took place at Seaton Delaval today in very blustery conditions! We were treated to some great games to watch.

 

Prelim games:ย 

G. Chapman (NB) 21 v M.Angove (WM) 14

This game started very evenly taking alternative one shot ends, so after 6 ends the score was 3-3.

Marysia then stepped up a gear and after 11 ends was leading 10-5. Gillian took the next 3 ends to cut the deficit to 8-10. Gillian continued to draw in well and after end 18 she was only one shot down 11-12. The turning point was Gillian taking 4 on end 20 to take the lead 15-13. She then took a second 4 on end 22 to put Marysia under pressure by leading 19-14. She finished with 2×1 to take the game 21-14.

 

S.Carter (HX) 17 v T.Napier (FH) 21

Shelagh took an early lead of 7-1 after 7 ends. Thelma was not giving up easily despite further pressure from Shelagh extending her lead to 16-5 after 17 ends. Thelma took the next 2 ends to cut her deficit to 9-16. Shelagh scored 1 on the next end to lead 17-9 but then she stalled on 17 as Thelma piled the pressure on taking the last 5 ends with 4, 3 2×2 & 1 to win the game 21-17.


Round 1

 

T. Napier (FH) 21 v G. Chapman (NB) 9

Thelma took an early lead of 7-1 after 5 ends. After 10 ends Gillian had cut her deficit down to 5-9. Both ladies pushed on hard and after 15 ends Thelma was leading 11-9. She then continued to pile on the pressure taking the last 4 ends with a 1, 4, 3 & 2 to win the game 21-9.

 

P. Bell (GC) 17 v D. Tait (M/FH) 21

This game was very evenly matched and after 5 ends they were level on 4-4. After 11 ends they were level again on 8-8. Dorothy started to put the pressure on and was leading 17-12 after 16 ends. Pam instantly replied taking the following 3 ends to cut her deficit to 16-17. Dorothy dug deep taking 3 out of the 4 last ends to win the game 21-17.

 

A. Dunton (P/FH) 21 v M. James (G) 15

This game started off very evenly matched so they were level on 5-5 after 6 ends. After 10 ends it was 7-7 and 8-8 after 12 ends. Marj got in her stride and after 19 ends she had taken the lead again with 15-11. Amy then dug deep and took the last 5 ends with 3, 3×2 & 1 to win the game 21-15.

 

J. Atkinson (PE) 9 v N. Scott (ND) 21

Both ladies started strong and after 4 ends were level on 6-6. Juliette then scored a 2 to take a lead of 8-6, but then she stalled on 8 as Naomi put on the pressure taking the following 7 ends to lead 15-8 after 12 ends. Naomi took a further 2, 1 & 3 in the last 3 ends to win the game 21-9.

 

So our semi finalists are lined up ready for our semi finals weekend 17-20th July at Gosforth:

  • A. Dunton (P/FH) v N. Scott (ND)
