The Agony of 20: The award for the most gut-wrenching finish goes to the clash between C. Taylor (NP) and P. Timney (G). In a relentless game of cat-and-mouse, Taylor agonizingly stalled on the 20-shot mark, allowing Timney to hold his nerve, draw the perfect shot, and slide across the finish line 21–20!
Down to the Wire: M. Cooper (G) and P. Proctor (BD) put on a show that went right to the absolute limit. Trading singles end after end in a brilliant exhibition of drawing bowls, Cooper found that extra gear at the death to seal a gritty 21–18 win.
The Wrecking Crews: Complete Dominance
While some ground out the wins, others simply found their weight on the first end and didn’t look back.
Armstrong’s Masterclass: N. Armstrong (G) put on the most dominant display of the round, leaving P. Charlton (FH) absolutely stranded. Armstrong looked completely unplayable, cruising to a ruthless 21–4 victory.
Barclay on Fire: R. Barclay (AM) put on an show against M. Povey (G). Barclay found a flawless length early doors and completely dictated the match, running away with a powerhouse 21–11 win.
Rowland’s Rhythm: M. Rowland (G) safely booked his spot in the next round with a highly impressive 21–16 win over R. Coates (T), while J. Whitfield (F) enjoyed an excellent day at the office, dispatching C. Turney (R) 21–13.
Quick Hits from the Greens
G. Richardson (AS) navigated a tricky away fixture, showing plenty of class to win 21–16 against J. Forster (HW).
K. Fleming (GC) laid down a strong marker early on, defeating P. Watson (R) 21–15 in a fast-paced game.
S. Williams (HS) showcased excellent tactical awareness to overpower R. McKinnon (WK) 21–11.
