Well the Bowls England National Finals has reached day 13 – and we are hoping it is lucky for us!
As per previous posts our seniors 4’s start today. Our ladies start their campaign this morning and our rink consists of Gosforth’s Fiona Woods, Norma Povey, Erica Timoney & Sheila Storey and our girls will take on Steff Pinson, Tania Cordial, Julie Leake and Bridget Hodder from Poole Park BC, Dorset and play started at 9:30m.
Our Men’s representatives from Collingwood Steve Welsh, Matthew Stronge, Michael Watson and awesome Peter Dawson also start at 9:30am and they will face a rink from Thatcham BC, Berkshire.
Today, also sees the start of the Junior Singles (u25’s) – and our Men’s under 25 champion, Benfield’s Matty Bishop is scheduled to play at 1pm, and Matty will take on Sam Andrews from Baldock BC, Hertfordshire B. Our other representative Haltwhistle’s George Rogan is unable to get to the finals due to work, so his opponent has received a walkover. Unfortunately we do not have a representative in the Women’s junior singles.
UPDATE: Unfortunately it was not to be today for both of our senior 4’s lost this morning. Our ladies from Gosforth lost 24 – 14 to Dorset. And the Collingwood four lost 21 – 15 to Berkshire.
