We were treated to some exciting bowling today at our BNWS 4 bowl Champion of Champions competition held at Lesbury BC. A lovely sunny day although it was very windy!!

 

Prelim round – Victoria Symons (WR) 16 v Shelagh Carter (HX) 21

 

Shelagh got off to a quick lead on the first end but Victoria then levelled the score back to 2-2 on the second end.

Shelagh took the lead again on the next 2 ends but Victoria took a 4 on end 5 followed by a 1 on end 6 to take the lead to 7-4. They were back level again on end 8 at 7-7. This match continued to be a closely fought game and on end 16 they were level again at 14-14. On end 18 Victoria regained the lead 16-15, but then Shelagh answered taking a 2,3,&1 on the last 3 ends to win the game 21-16.

 

Prelim round – Naomi Scott (NDK) 21 v Enid Saint (M) 18

 

Naomi took an early lead in this game scoring 3×4 and 2 x3 in the first 7 ends to take a lead of 18-3. However Enid was not going down without a fight and by end 13 she had fought back to 13-18. Naomi scored 1 on the 14th end but then Enid scored on the next 4 ends to cut the deficit to 18-19 by the 18th end. Naomi held her nerve scoring 2×1 on the following 2 ends to win the game 21-18. A fantastic comeback from Enid, so close, but congratulations to Naomi on her win.

 

Round 1 – Amy Dunton (P) 19 v Rachel Cartwright (BD) 21

 

Amy found her line very quickly in this game taking a lead of 9-0 after 4 ends. Rachel took the next 3 ends to cut the deficit to 3-9. Amy answered by extending her lead again to 14-3 after 10 ends. Both ladies fought hard in this game and by the end of the 19th end Rachel had cut the deficit down to 12-19. Rachel then showed great determination to continue her comeback taking the next 5 ends with 1×4, 1×2 & 3×1 to eventually win the game 21-19! Another great comeback on this rink!!

 

Prelim round- Helen Jobe (C) 7 v Marie Allan (R) 21

 

Helen scored 2 on the first end but Marie worked hard and won the following 4 ends to take a lead of 7-2. By the end of the 10th end Marie had extended her lead to 13-4. Marie then took the next 3 ends to lead 17-4 and Helen replied with a 3 on end 14 to cut the deficit to 7-17. Marie finished the game with a 3 & 1 to win 21-7.

 

Round 1 – Debbie Higgins (WM) 11 v Ann Pearson (PE) 21

 

This was a closely fought game with the players being level at 3-3 on end 3 then level again at 6-6 after 8 ends. Ann then extended her lead to 11-6 after 10 ends, and again after 13 ends to 14-8. Debbie replied with a 3 on end 14, but then Ann scored 3 & 2×2 on the last 3 ends to win the game 21-11.

 

Round 1 – Shelagh Carter (HX) 17 v S.Storey (G) 21

 

Shelagh took the first 3 ends to lead 3-0. Then Sheila replied on the following 4 ends to lead 5-3. Shelagh levelled the scores back to 5-5 on the 8th end. They were level again at 8-8 after 11 ends. Sheila then pushed hard and took the next 5 ends with 2×3, 2×2 &1 to lead 19-8. Shelagh replied with 2×1, 4, 3 on the following 4 ends to cut the deficit to 17-19. Sheila held firm scoring 2×1 on the last 2 ends to win the game 21-17.

 

Round 1 – Marie Allan (R) 13 v Naomi Scott (NDK) 21

 

Marie was leading 10-4 after 9 ends, taking 5×1 & 3 over 6 ends. Then Naomi found her line and took the next 5 ends with 1, 2, 3×3 to take the lead to 16-10. Marie replied with 1&2 to cut the deficit to 13-16 after 16 ends. However Naomi held firm and took the next 3 ends to win the game 21-13.

 

So our semi finalists are:

 

Naomi Scott (NDK) v Sheila Storey (G)

 

Ann Pearson (PE) v Rachel Cartwright (BD)

 

Congratulations to the above players. The games will be played during our semi finals weekend 13/14th July at Benfield BC.

 

A big thank you to Lesbury BC for hosting this event and providing much needed refreshments, it was greatly appreciated 😊
