The Women’s 2 Bowl Singles Competition took place today at Whitley & Monkseaton and yes we did get quite wet early on but thankfully it dried up for our second round!
Kacee Sultman (FH) played her first round game earlier this week due to having an England trial today, where she secured a strong win v H.Jobe (BD).
Sarah Stothard (NB), R.Cartwright (BD) and N.Scott (ND) also achieved strong wins against their opponents in Round 1.

- K.Milner (M)15 v S. MacDonald (HX) 10
After 5 ends the score was 4-4. After 10 ends Karen took a lead of 10-5. But Susan fought back and after 18 ends Susan had pulled her deficit back to 10-14. Karen scored 1 on the next end to take the win 15-10.
Karen will play her 2nd round game v K.Sultman (FH) as soon as I can arrange it.
- V.Dent (WR) 13 v S.Carter (HX) 9
Victoria took an early lead of 9-2 after 10 ends. Sheila replied taking the next 5 ends to cut her deficit to 7-9. Victoria continued to push hard and eventually won the game on end 20 13-9.
Second round games:
- N.Scott (ND) 17 v A.Tweddle (ND) 6
Naomi started strong and was leading 5-1 after 5 ends. After 10 ends she had extended her lead to 12-2. Alana never gave up and took the next 2 ends but unfortunately it was not enough and Naomi took the win of 17-6.
- R.Cartwright (BD) 15 v V.Dent (WR) 9
Rachel started strongly and after 10 ends she had taken a lead of 10-2. After 12 ends this had extended to 11-4. Victoria then took the following 4 ends to cut her deficit to 9-11. Rachel replied taking the last 3 ends to win 15-9.
- S.Stothard (NB) 15 v J.Derbyshire (ND) 13
Jess started strongly leading 4-2 after 5 ends. After 12 ends Sarah had pushed ahead and took a lead of 12-5.
Jess replied taking the following 4 ends to cut her deficit to 11-12. Both ladies pushed hard and after 20 ends Sarah was leading 14-13. On the last end Jess was lying 2 and then Sarah with her last bowl split the two bowls on the jack, to take the last end winning the game 15-13.
