The second round of the 2 Wood Singles delivered a mix of clinical victories, high-stakes drama, and a narrow escape for the reigning champion. While several favorites cruised through, others found themselves fighting until the final delivery to secure their place in the next stage.

• The Champion’s Defense:

Defending champion B. Davidson (WR) faced a stern test against S. Pallas (G). In a high-quality encounter that lived up to its billing, Davidson showcased his experience to edge out a 15–13 victory, keeping his title defense alive.

• The Extra End Thriller:

The match of the round took place between S. Miller (G) and A. Pomfrey (BD). With the scores locked at the 21st end, the game headed to a tense extra end. Miller showed immense composure under pressure to secure the decisive shot, finishing 15–14* in his favour.

• Clinical Dominance:

L. Darling (CP) produced the most dominant performance of the day, dismantling P. Walton (WH) with a commanding 17–2 scoreline. Other comprehensive victories were recorded by A. Scott (ND) (18–4 over M. Bowyer) and K. Laidler (R) (17–4 over D. Lane).

• Narrow Margins:

It was heartbreak for J. Whitfield (F), who pushed M. Dickinson (ST) to the limit, eventually falling short by just one shot in a 14–15 battle. Similarly, C. McGready (ST) held off P. Brimer (BD) in a tightly contested 14–11 game.
