Gosforth Secure National Gold in Club Two Fours Glory!

Friday morning at Victoria Park brought the ultimate triumph as our Gosforth stars delivered a masterclass on the national stage to claim the Club Two Fours National Championship title!

Club Two Fours Championship Final (Morning Session – Rinks A4 & A5):

With an unchanged team lining up—Karl Jameson, Steve Harvey, Josh Minto, and BJ Byles on Rink A5, and Michael Cymber, Simon Richardson, Phil Harvey, and Chris Yeomans on Rink A4—Gosforth put on a performance of sheer grit, class, and determination against Worcester Bowling Club A.

Match Momentum: After facing a tough early test that saw Worcester edge ahead 11–6 after 9 ends, Gosforth kept chipping away to trail narrowly at 13–12 after 14 ends. From there, our lads seized total control, putting their foot firmly on the accelerator to pull ahead 19–15, extend to 31–17, and ultimately seal a magnificent 39–28 victory to capture the gold!

• Byles (Rink A5): Put on an outstanding display after a slow start, storming from 5–0 down to lead 7–5 by the 5th end. Highlighted by high drama—including two dead ends, one of which sent the jack flying over the bank and down the stands of A green!—Byles’ rink kept their foot firmly on the accelerator, surging to 15–6 by the 10th end, 20–6 by the 12th, and overwhelming Worcester 28–10 after 17 ends.
• Yeomans (Rink A4): Fought through a fiercely contested battle against top-tier opposition. After trailing 11–6, Yeomans sparked a brilliant revival on the 14th end by picking up a crucial 4-shot count to level their rink score at 11–11, before Worcester fought back down the stretch to edge the rink 18–11.

Looking Ahead: No Time to Rest!

While the gold medal is an incredible achievement, the celebrations will have to wait just a moment longer. The lads need to catch their breath, grab a quick bite, and get right back in the zone—they are straight back out on B Green at 4:30 pm to carry that winning momentum into their Top Club Quarter-Final against Leicestershire’s Kingscroft!
