Angels of the North Secure Brilliant 2nd-Place Finish in Thrilling Group Finale!

What a dramatic conclusion to the group stage! The Angels of the North have put on an incredible display, finishing an outstanding 2nd in the group with a fantastic 16 points!

While Durham put on a massive late charge to take the top spot on shot difference (+32 to the Angels’ +11), the Angels finished level on points at the very top of the pile. Because of how incredibly well they played throughout the group stages, finishing with 16 points puts the Angels in a fantastic position. They are now highly likely to bag one of the 3 coveted top runner-up spots across the five regional groups to secure their ticket straight to the National Finals at Royal Leamington Spa! Pending BE final confirmation this week.

A Powerhouse Regionals Partnership

The Angels of the North are a brilliant combined force, uniting young talent across Yorkshire, Cumbria, and Northumberland. This tournament showcased the incredible depth of youth bowls in the region, with girls aged from 10 to 25 playing across the different North Region teams. The green was buzzing with energy all day featuring players at all different levels of experience supporting one another and playing some phenomenal bowls.

This competition is a massive stepping stone for these young players. Not only is it a chance to play highly competitive junior bowls, but it is also a primary hunting ground for talent scouts looking to select players for the England Junior Internationals squad!

Building the Next Generation for 2027

With Northumberland boasting 13 affiliated girls this season, the future of the sport in the North is getting brighter. There is already a massive buzz about utilizing this amazing momentum to start our very own, brand-new next-generational squad for the 2027 season!
