White Rose

Back to news

Our Men’s White Rose Trophy (under 24 players) will take centre stage over the weekend at Northallerton BC, where they will face Cumbria, Durham, Lancashire and Yorkshire over Saturday and Sunday.

This year, like the Balcomb, Walker cup – we have a new scenario with pairs and triples being played on one session and the next session being singles and fours. And also the games will only be 1 hour 15 minutes including trial ends.

Tomorrow we will take on Cumbria first at 9:30am, then we were due to play Durham B – but Durham advised they could only field one team now A revised schedule (from BE) has not been issued as yet, so likley we have a bye during this time, until we play Lancashire later in the day.

On Sunday we will play Yorkshire then Durham A.

White Rose Schedule – still shows Durham with 2 teams though

Our team will be represented by Matty Bishop (ST), Luke Jameson (ST), Alex Scott (ND), Paul Shilton (AS), Alex Simpson (C).

I am sure we wish everyone the very best over the weekend – play well and win.

I will try and keep this page updated – Here is a link to the BE website which will hopefully be updated after each session

The format is as follows: –

Players will participate in the following disciplines:
• Singles (four bowls each player, two sets of seven ends)
• Pairs (three bowls per player, 2 sets of six ends)
• Triples (two bowls per player, 2 sets of six ends)
• Fours (two bowls per player, 2 sets of five ends)
Each match will feature two sessions
• Pairs/Triples – Session 1
• Singles/Fours – Session 2

Counties may change players/disciplines prior to the start of each individual match.
Each session will have a time limit of one hour 15 minutes (including trial ends).

Scoring:

• Per discipline – 3 pts for a win; 1 pt for a draw
• Per match – 12 pts for a win; 6 pts for a draw
The county/team that tops the group at the conclusion of the group stages on will qualify for the Aviva National Bowls Finals. This will be determined by (in order):
• Overall points
• Overall shots difference
• Overall shots scored
Should there still be a ‘tie’ between two counties once these factors are taken into account, the result (shots aggregate) in the match between the two counties concerned will determine the group winner.
If there is a ‘tie’ between two counties once these factors are taken into account, the result (shots aggregate) in the match between the two counties concerned will determine the group winner. Should shots be level at conclusion of the match, the winning team will be determined by the winner of the Singles fixture between those two counties. Should this still not produce a winner, each county will select one player to play a one-end tie-break to determine the winner.
