Day Fourteen Singles Action & Day Fifteen Preview!

Tuesday at Victoria Park brought more fierce national singles action under the Leamington sun as our women’s and men’s campaigns continued to unfold!

Women’s Singles Championship (Morning Session – Rink C2):

Shelagh Carter (Hexham Elvaston) got her national singles campaign underway against the Isle of Wight’s Anne Bernard (Ryde Marina). In a fiercely contested encounter, Carter battled hard through the early ends at 3–1 and 8–4 down, showing tremendous grit to stay within striking distance at 8–6 and 11–6 after 14 ends. Despite finding some late scores to close the gap to 20–15, Bernard ultimately edged across the line to take a 21–15 victory. A brilliant effort on the national singles stage from Carter!

Women’s Singles Championship (Afternoon Session – Rink C6):

Kacee Sultman (Forest Hall) took to the green to face Hampshire’s Jayne Christie (Alton Social). Her opponent caught the stronger start on the board, and despite playing out a series of incredibly close, tactical heads where the rub of the green just wouldn’t fall our way, Sultman kept battling right to the very last end before finishing at 21–8 (a game which certainly looked a different scoreline on the green!). She gave a brilliant account of herself on the national stage!

Looking Ahead to Day 15 (Wednesday 26th August): Men’s Singles Take Centre Stage!

The blue riband action rolls straight on tomorrow afternoon as our men’s singles contenders step up to begin their national campaigns at Leamington Spa:

12:30 (Rink A4) – Men’s Singles Championship: Martin Rogan (Haltwhistle) kicks off his championship quest against the Isle of Wight’s Travis Meller (Shanklin).

12:30 (Rink C5) – Men’s Singles Championship: Gary Myerscough (St Georges Dragons) takes to the green to face Hampshire’s Alan Geary (Boscombe Cliff).
