Stella Logan v Durham

Stella Logan match report 23/6/23

Northumberland v Durham at Alnwick.

Rome wasn’t built in a day or a bowls season. Having lost some regular team members due to illness etc. the selectors had a juggling act to achieve a team for today.

Joan Gledhill maintained consistency having a great win 20 shots to 9. A strong team combination. Terri Heron thrown into the deep end having to skip a rink again but certainly rose to the challenge leading by one shot at the 16th end just to drop 4 shots over the last two ends. Such a valiant effort 16 v 19.

Getting the right blend of players to make up a rink is a challenge in itself especially when as a County you have the pleasant task of welcoming new players and have to assess their potential. We will get there, so yes two rinks went down 11 v 24 & 8 v 24 but hopefully lessons have been learned and next game sees improvement.

President Norma Povey had the pleasant duty in presenting Miriam Pearson, Ros Holmes, Geraldine Garbutt, Marian Fairless and Jennifer Miller with their County badges for at least 6 appearance in the Stella Logan League for Northumberland.
