Sunday, September 1st marked the end of the bowls season for most of us and we certainly went out with a bang.
Although the turn out wasn’t as great as we were expecting, the sun kept shining, the company was great and the Rock and Roll bowls were fantastic!
Secretary Margaret and President Rose would battle alongside their ‘groupies’ to see who would be this year’s winners – all while raising money for Parkinson’s UK. We played 2 games in the morning – at which point all was tied at 6 points and but Rose had her nose in front with +1 shot overall. We had a short break for lunch before our final game where in the end Margaret and the Red team were victorious 10 pts to 8.
Alongside our bowls game there were cakes, a raffle and spider all to help raise a much money as possible.
We manged to raise £228 on the day, plus a further £100 from Rose’s president’s tour to Troon in July making our total donation to Parkinson’s UK a huge £328 – Well done, and thank you to all who contributed!
Rose would like to thank everyone for their amazing support of her event and throughout her Presidential year and wishes you all well through the winter months.
Lastly, I would like to remind everyone that these ‘President’s Day’ events are held in good faith to give something back to the communities and raise lots of money for a different charity each year. Please can you encourage as many members as possible to enter next year, it really is a fun day for all. Even if you don’t want to play – please pop along, eat cake, play the raffle, drink tea (or wine!) and most importantly – have fin and raise some cash, thank you.
Hope you all enjoyed the day and had a great season, here are some photos from our Rock and Roll Bowls to give you a smile!
