League Update

Back to news

Just to advise ALL of the leagues for the 2021 season are now available to view.

I would also like to advise of the changes (from this proposed season), and I have to advise of the sad demise of one club not continuing at this stage, which is Fossway and we welcome a new addition to Bowls Northumberland – which is Ashington BC.

Nines League

The league for 2021 season has 11 teams and is ONE league. The changes are Fossway (removed), and new additions of Springbank (they did enter for this year) and Cowpen & Crofton.

Knight Cup

We have 35 clubs entered, one more than this year.  Therefore the leagues will consist of 3 divisions of 9 (increase in Division 3 to 9 from 8), and one division (that is 4) of 8 teams.  With Cowpen & Crofton now in Nines League and aren’t taking part in this league and an increase to 9 – the two clubs moved up to Division 3 are Tynemouth and Astley Park.

In Division 4 we have two new clubs entering this year, Ashington have replaced Astley Park (up to Div 3) and Forth (who didn’t enter in 2020) have replaced Tynemouth (whom are also now in Div 3).

Divisions 1 and 2 are unaltered from the original 2020 schedule.

Clegg Cup

We have 41 clubs entered, compared with 42 this year – the clubs not entering are Fossway (highlighted earlier) and Cowpen & Crofton.  The new addition this year is Whitley & Monkseaton.

Fossway who were in Division 2 – this division will now have 8 clubs and not 9 clubs.

Whitley & Monkseaton have gone in to Division 5, and as a result of this Astley Park have moved up to Division 4,  Westerhope Community have moved from Division 4 to Division 3 (replacing Cowpen & Crofton).

Therefore the Clegg Cup consists of Division 1 with 9 teams, and Divisions 2 to 5 with 8 teams in each.
