Bowls Northumberland Men’s Section Statement on Coronavirus (COVID-19):

Following a statement made by Bowls England and considering HM Government advice regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak the executive of Bowls Northumberland have taken the following decisions regarding the 2020 season and the operations of Bowls Northumberland.

The statement of Bowls England has been circulated to clubs which advised that: –

  • All National Championship games are cancelled in their entirety (Including County competitions leading up to these.)
  • BE staff will be working from Home commencing Monday 23rd March 2020.
  • Club Affiliation fees are to be refunded to County and then back to clubs.
  • Championship fees paid to BE will be returned to Counties, and again will be returned to clubs /Players.
  • BE Competition entries are to be refunded.

 

Bowls Northumberland are advising that: –

  • ALL League matches for 2020 will be suspended until further notice.
  • ALL Cup matches (Edwardson, Challenge, Jubilee Cup) will be suspended for 2020.
  • ALL Championship matches are suspended until further notice.
  • BNMS will continue to monitor the situation and offer advice/guidance.
  • Club members affiliation fees will be returned to Clubs (From County).
  • Championship entry fees will also be returned to Clubs/players.
  • BNMS Dinner and Presentation is to be cancelled.
  • Further advice from BE on Green Maintenance, recruitment, will be forwarded as received.
  • Coronavirus: Be aware and check BE website for further updates. We will also be updating our website with information as it arrives. Other sites offering advice are: Gov.uk guidance: Public Health England guidance.
  • Please be proactive and advise your members.
  • What does this mean for each club”?– BN will not be advising clubs to close; that decision would be for the respective club itself on whether they open, or open on a set date in the future. Then if that club opens, and then it would be up to each individual club member to decide to join / play etc. The club itself may impose certain restrictions on numbers and restrictions when a club is open / available.
  • Please be aware that North Tyneside have placed restrictions upon their clubs and open spaces.
